Emily is now seven and has had two open heart surgeries for pulmonary stenosis-the last removed the pulmonary valve.  The cardiologist will need to put in an artificial one once her heart has reached full growth.  She also had a Nissen fundoplication done for severe reflux and a pyloroplasty.  She has had (and since lost) her ear tubes.  She's had eye muscle surgery (for crossing) and continues to be involved in vision therapy.  She had surgery on both hips for developmental hip dysplasia and her Achilles tendons lengthened due to tightness.  She participated in a behavioral feeding program to learn how to eat at the age of four.  She had her g-tube removed the following year.  She still has difficulties with food, so we continue to be involved in speech therapy.  At school, she also receives occupational and physical therapies.  She has done really well in school and can read and spell at or above grade level (1st grade).  She has been tested and treated (unsuccessfully) for attention deficit so ongoing studies with an MRI and sleep study are where we are at to help with her learning and attending.  She is truly a fighter!  Despite all that she has been through, Emily is a very sweet and giving girl.
